Tankers Workshop: Power of Positivity

For this Tankers Workshop we're going to build the habit of positivity.  WOT can be a toxic game at times, and it's easy to tilt when things aren't going our way. I have this problem myself, I can get frustrated and sometimes I get a little salty with my teams. I don't make it personal, and I try not to get TOO carried away, but sometimes I've said things I regret.

It's just a game, after all.

For as lousy/frustrating as it feels to get nasty messages, it also feels good to get positive messages. And it feels good to SEND positive messages. So the habit we're going to work on is building that positivity.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it...

For the next 30 sessions...try to identify at least one player, per session, preferably on the other team, that you can send a sincere compliment to after the game.

For example:
  • "That was a nice job on that flank, you caught us off guard. gg."
  • "Thought I had you by that big building, well-played."
  • "That active spotting run you did was the reason your team won. Nicely done."
I realize there might not be an obvious reason to congratulate somebody after every battle, that's why I'm suggesting you do it by the session. Surely if you play more than a handful of battles you can identify somebody, on one team or the other, who did well.

My log of compliments

To keep myself accountable I'm going to add my own, actual, messages to this post here updated throughout the month as I go. :)

Last update: October 12th, 2020
  1. To a SkorpG on my team who helped hold a ridge on Karelia: "We would have lost that side without your support. Well done!"
  2. To an enemy UDES 16 who was using the suspension mechanic well to shoot while only giving me a pixel to fire back at: "You were doing some nice hull-down work in that Ghost Town game. Well-played. gg"
  3. To an enemy VK 28.01 who surprised me with an aggressive play: "I wasn't expecting you there, well-played. gg."
  4. To a Pantera on my team who kept an opponent proxied in a valient (even if ultimately futile) effort: "Thanks for keeping that guy lit. Sorry we couldn't help you more."
  5. To a Conway on my team who pushed in to kill a STRV that had us pinned down: "The aggro play you made to go get that STRV 103-0 in the Glacier game really saved us. Thanks!"
  6. To a T26E4 on my team who got on cap to draw the last 3 enemies out: "Thanks for putting cap pressure on in that El Halluf game. That helped draw them out. gg."
  7. To an EVEN 90 on the other team who did a great job of scouting: "That aggressive middle spotting play on the Malinovka game was a big factor in your team winning. Well-played."
  8. To a SkorpG on our team who got into position to proxy spot a troublesome STRV S1 (We had two Skorp's on our team and I wasn't 100% sure which one it was): "If you were the SkorpG who flexed around into the trench on that Mannerheim game, that was a great move. Probably key to us winning that one. gg."
  9. To a Lorr 155 51 on the other team who shotgunned me with his last shot before we won. "Nice anticipation at the end. Was hoping you wouldn't be looking at me. Well-played.
  10. To an AMX 65t on the other team who made an aggressive move late to turn a 12-13 situation into a win for his group: "You pushing up at the end won that one for your team. Well-played. gg"
  11. To a Type 64 who came this close to beating us: "Even though you got killed at the end, you played that really well. You came really close to pulling that out for your team. gg."
  12. To an Obj 268.4 who made a great push to save the game. "Your 0-line push basically won that for us. gg."
  13. To an LTTB on the enemy team who saw that my team was hiding in the back and had left me hung out to dry. "That was a nice move in that Ruinberg battle to see that I was isolated and come get me. Well-played. gg"
  14. To an AMX AC 48 on the other team who surprised me with a flanking manuever. "That was a nice flank in that Lakeville battle. Well-played."
  15. To an EBR 105 that got into the enemy backfield and cleaned out 3 arties. "You hunting down their arties made that Mannerheim win a lot easier. Well done. gg."
  16. [Took a break for the holidays] To a Lynx 6x6 on the other team who made a strong aggressive opening scouting play. "That was a great early scouting play in the Karelia game. You almost won that for your team. gg."
  17. To a Bret Panther whose aggressive play got us a win in a game that looked very uncertain early. "Nice carry. You pushing that line saved us. gg."
  18. To our O-Ni who ended up in a duel with a KV-2 at the end on Cliff, which we won when our M44 got the kill shot. "Very well-played; especially at the end where you kept the KV-2 on the West side of the building where arty had shots. gg"
  19. To the IS-7 on our team who loaded in late, then came on strong and basically led the charge for an unexpected win. "Nice - we really needed you there and you came through. gg!"
  20. To an IS-2 on the other team that gave me a lot of trouble in my IS-3. We won, but he fought well. "You played that really well, especially for bottom tier. gg"
  21. To a TS-5 on our side who pulled it out 1 v 4 to get us a win. "Nice save. gg"
  22. To an Obj 263 on my team who pushed in when I flanked a 50TP: "Thanks for backing up the flank on that 50TP. Well-played. gg."
  23. To an EBR 90 on our team who did a brilliant job of aggressively scouting (Wheelies gonna wheelie): "Very well played. You were probably the key to us winning that. gg."
  24. To a 112 on the other team that deliberately pulled in front of his wounded teammate to shield him. "Just wanted to say, you pulling in front of the Lowe to block for him was a class move. Well-played. #respect"
  25. To an enemy E 25 who took up a good early flanking position and nearly carried. "Don't know how my team won that Mines game. You did a nice job suppressing the North. Well-played."
  26. To a T-34/100 on my team who took advantage of a key enemy who was turned to fight one of our team and secured the win. "That was nice work at the end there. Especially recognizing the Hotch was flanked and pushing him. gg
  27. To an UDES 16 on the other team who did a masterful job of playing the B2 corner hull down: "Just wanted to say you played that UDES 16 in the El Halluf game extremely well. gg."
  28. To a T25/2 on my team who helped me hold a corner on Kharkov. We combined for over 4K damage and 4 kills. "Very nice work on that corner. gg."
  29. To a T-34-85 on the other team who single-handedly anchored the A line on Karelia Defense: "You played that corner perfectly. Well-done. gg"
  30. To a Bourrasque on our team who found himself ISO'd on the hill but held it anyhow. "You had a heckuva game. Held the hill against superior numbers, then pushed at just the right time. You're probably the reason we won that."

Give it a try. I think you'll like it!

GLHF!
