I commented yesterday that the new matchmaker is better, but the teams aren't. This morning was a great example of that. I got a lot of same-tier battles, and I think I only had +2 matchmaking once or maybe twice. But the games were still mostly stomps; either 15-5 wins, or 5-15 losses (and more of the latter).
What was I happy with this morning?
I did a good job of keeping my gun active, especially when I was top tier. Even in the TDs I wasn't camping, I dealt early damage, and I think I got at least my hit points in damage nearly every battle.
I also did a pretty good job of spotting when I had the opportunity, and held my fire if I was getting spotting damage and didn't want to get lit.
What could I have done better?
My teams melted badly in most of the battles and I often found myself caught out because the 2 or 3 guys who were around me all died quick and quiet. One moment I've got support and I'm dealing damage, next moment I look around and I'm alone versus 2 or 3 enemies. I was sometimes able to get in one or two last shots, but too often I was suddenly in a bad spot and got overrun.
Need to watch the map and monitor my teammates a little better. To be fair the positions I was in I probably couldn't have easily fallen back from without getting wiped out, but I should have been prepared to earlier.
The Standard B
Took the Standard B (Tier 9 Italian MT) out for the first time this morning. The gun is excellent. The mobility is good, the armor is non-existant (especially at tier 9). I got Abbey for my first battle, went 1/2 line and got two early shots of damage on enemies crossing to the 2 line. That part went well. Unfortunately the aforementioned melty team meant that I ended up backed into a bit of a crossfire and ultimately killed by a Cent 7/1. Still, put solid damage into an E75, a KV-4, and the Cent that ended up killing me.
Felt pretty good about how I played, just didn't have the team around me to support.
Looking forward to the next battle in the Standard B. I think I'll be playing more tier 9s in the coming days (at least until Frontline starts).
