Carrying by Not Playing for the Draw and Having Patience

In the last two days I've had a pair of epic 5-kill carries in my light tanks. The 13 57 on Malinovka was the first. I ended up 1 v 4 and killed the last two with less than 20 seconds left.

The AMX 12T on Highway was this morning; ended up me, an AFK T-34-85, and a pair of arties against a King Tiger. With a pair of arties that should have been easy, but these weren't gifted arties.

In both cases the trick was to keep moving, use distance until I was ready to swoop in and circle for a kill, try not to be predictable. To kill the King Tiger I circled halfway around the map and approached from the opposite direction of where I had been.
In the 12T game our Cromwell (who was long dead) was in chat imploring us to run away and just hide, even though we had a 3 tank lead at the time. He had no confidence in us and wanted us to play for the draw. World of Tanks isn't hockey though; there are no points for ties. You might as well play for the win. If I'd done what he said and gone off to hide in a bush I wouldn't be talking now about the epic 5-kill carry.

You don't do epic shit by playing timidly. Nobody ever won a Kolobanovs by playing for the draw.

One of the biggest keys to the wins was patience. Especially in the mid-game when I had a good feel for how the battle was playing out. I used the minimap (Good habit: https://wotguy.blogspot.com/2019/06/tankers-workshop-2-minimap.html) and took a deep breath. Being patient let me not get killed, come up with a plan, and execute the plan at least a little calmly. Especially if I'm bottom tier in a mobile tank I'm making it a point to be even more patient than usual and try to save some hit points for the late game when my tank can be the difference.

Speaking of patience in World of Tanks, here's a good video from 4TankersAndDog talking about that.

Next time you're watching your favorite streamer on Twitch or YouTube, by the way...practice your mimimap skills by making a point to look at their minimap as often as possible. When it's somebody else playing it's easier because you don't have to worry about driving or shooting. Great way to get yourself in the habit of checking that map often...and of spotting battle trends that are helpful.
