Snap Shot: The Setter

Snap Shot is a series of quick posts on a single topic. Longer than a tweet, shorter than a...well, longer post. You don't care about that so let's just get into it.

Picked up the Tier 7 British LT the GSR 3301 Setter this morning. I had deliberately hoarded 63,000 XP on the Cromwell specifically to get this tank when it was available.

You've probably seen a lot of streamers talk about this line of tanks and how bad they are. Now that the tank is out, what do I think?

It's meh.

It's slow. Top speed of 58 is slower than most of the other Tier 7 LTs. Tank traverse isn't very good either; it just doesn't turn well.

View range is ok, not special. Especially if you don't have a high quality crew in it you're probably going to be sub-445 even with optics and vents.

Camo isn't as good as I expected it to be; again it's pretty crew dependent. As my crew is improving the camo is getting better, but it's not an EVEN 90.

The gun...the stock gun is really awful. 75 alpha. The top gun isn't too bad; the DPM is terrible, but at least you get 180 silver pen, which is pretty good for a tier 7 LT. It's one of the few reasons to smile in this tank. I also found that I hit (and penned) a few snap shots on the move that I didn't think were likely to hit.

So...is it terrible? Well...I won't say terrible. Running food and with a 100% crew halfway thru their first skill it's sort of competitive at Tier 7. Problem is you can also face tier 9s...and in those games you're going to be awfully limited.

Should you get it? If you're a light tank enthusiast, like I am, you probably will want to experience it, just to have it in the collection. Are you going to enjoy it? Maybe not.

I'll see if I like it better when I have a better crew in it.
