Autoloader: German "Heavies"

Couple of quick thoughts as I'm grinding some German tanks.

Believe what you hear

Grinding the Tiger (P) at the moment. It's almost as bad as you think it is. It actually has an OK gun, and good frontal hull armor. It's slow, but it's a heavy so you can live with that. The big problem with it is that it has a medium tank turret. The armor on the turret is easily penned by everything. And not only is it thin...it's pretty flat.

If it just had a competent turret, it would be an ok tank. But that turret just means there's no point playing hull-down, and you can't face-hug people.  You want to bait shots into your hull. But only noobs will shoot you in the hull on purpose. Experienced players know you can go through the Tiger (P)'s face with standard rounds.

There's a big cupola on top too...and my instinct is to try and hide it. But why bother? Enemies can just go through your turret.

I play ok, in the Tiger (P) all things considered. But it's a very hard tank to carry in, it's a support heavy, and it doesn't have especially good DPM, view range, or mobility.

He ain't heavy and he sure as hell ain't my brother

The VK 30.01(P) was a fun medium. But with the 1.9 patch it's now been reclassified as a "heavy". The speed got nerfed pretty hard, but it didn't get any additional armor. It seems to be pretty much the same tank in all other respects; it's just slower now. Too bad.
