Thru tier 7 this is probably the worst light tank line in the game. They're seriously bad.
At tier 8, the LHMTV, the stats get decent - very good camo, ok mobility, good pen and damage for a light tank, but the tank plays worse than its stats. I'm not sure why, exactly. The very low DPM is probably one reason, but it also feels like maybe the ground resistance is bad - I haven't checked the stats on that. Remarkably, even though the LHMTV is often frustrating, I do have a 65% win rate in it. Likewise the premium Senlac, which so far seems to be the best LT in the Brit line; where I have a 56% win rate.
I only have a handful of games in the GSOR but so far it seems like more of the same; it's got a medium tank gun, but a very long reload, which leads to very poor DPM. Even with a decent, Brothers-in-Arms, crew, vents and rammer it still struggles to approach 1700 DPM.
The camo is quite good, though, and the view range is fine. As a result if your team isn't good you often find yourself sitting in a passive scouting bush, lighting people who don't get shot, and as your team melts away you end up hoping you'll get 1 or 2 shots of damage in before they kill you.
Like the LHMTV it's not unplayable, once you get the feel for it it's ok. But it's not good. The trick seems to be to really rely on your stealth, play a little further back than you're used to and nibble around the edges of the battle using your view range and sticking in a shot here and there before quickly relocating.
It's just really hard to carry in a low-DPM tank.
Bonus: One nice thing about the GSOR is that it doesn't seem to bleed credits like many tier 9 tanks do. I'm not shooting prem and I am running a 50% credit booster on my premium account; but even under those conditions I sometimes lose credits in tier 9 tanks. So far in the GSOR, even playing at an average level and only winning about 40% so far, I'm making a modest amount of credits every battle.
