A few random observations about World of Tanks.
121 On Track
The 121 On Track is about to start so I thought I'd finish grinding through the T-34-2 so that I could by the WZ-120 at a discount the first day. With all the x5s and such it should be pretty trivial to get it done. I did manage to unlock the WZ-120 yesterday, but I tell ya, that T-34-2 is really frustrating.
First of all is the gun handling. I had a battle on Steppes where I was top tier and I managed to BOUNCE a side shot off a Tier 6 French arty. Then I managed to MISS four pretty well aimed shots at a STA-2 from about 200m. Shots just tailing off into the dirt for no reason. Legendary Chinese accuracy.
Second is this....
If you plan to play the T-34-2, make sure your loader has Safe Stowage...even then, be prepared to have your battle ended early. it's the ammo rack. The T-34-2 seems to be made primarily of ammo racks.
50B On Track
The second On Track event in October will be the 50B. Since I finished unlocking the WZ-120 a day or so early I decided to play the 50 100 a bunch of times to see if I can get close to unlocking the 50 120, so I'm ready to buy that one when the On Track starts. First day...pretty frustrating. The 6 shell autoloader is kinda nice and you can really put a hurt on people with that clip (if you hit/pen most of them) but the reload is LOOOONG. 45 seconds even with a decent crew for me.
So the first day I was being too aggressive and my teams were really bad. I'd get my first clip out and by the time that finished 1/3 of my team was already dead and while I reloaded I was suddenly 1 v 4 and getting overrun. If i was lucky I could get some or all of my 2nd clip out before I died.
The 50 100 doesn't really have any armor. It's basically just a beefier Lorraine 40T. So you have to play it that way. The second day I played it MUCH more conservatively. Hung back a bit, pulled out when I had a clip and did damage, then pulled back, sometimes way back, while I reloaded. Teams were a bit better, and I was a lot smarter. So I did much better. At the moment I'm only about 30K XP away from unlocking the 50 120, which I could do in 1 or 2 sessions pretty easily.
The Waffentrager mode
The Waffentrager mode is kinda fun, but have to say that it's easy mode for the WT. Just be aggro and defend the spawns and you'll usually win. The T55s can win occasionally, but unless the WT driver is a noob...it's tough.
Don't be that guy
Saw our IS-3 deliberately push our Obj 430 out of cover into enemy fire and get him killed today. That was all I needed to see, I turned and drove away...let the IS-3 deal with that group of enemies by himself.
We lost the battle - were probably going to anyhow - but I wasn't going to support somebody who was a dick. I'd rather go shoot some red tanks elsewhere.
Footlockers
The WT event footlockers are kinda disappointing. Yes, I got a T77 and an STB out of them. I did get some ok credits, and a little bit of gold, plus some training bookets. Not a total disaster. But the fact that you have to spend gold to reopen them but then can get the EXACT same reward; well that kinda sucks. And the demounting kits that you can't sell. Do I really need 300 demounting kits? I dunno.
So though I bought 50 or 60 footlockers I think I'm done with that.
The XMas boxes are way better, in my opinion.
