SnapShot: Zero line on Redshire in World of Tanks

Had a battle on Redshire this morning and wanted to make a comment. We were on the North spawn (which Skill4LTU refers to as the "losing spawn") and it was a Tier IX battle. I was in my ISU-152.

At the outset I went to Skill's favorite spot, the C8 trees, where I knocked down the trees and took up position to shoot the G5 hill, and support our heavies at E0.

Problem 1: Spotting by light tanks

First issue I had was that neither of our LTs went to spot middle. The best thing about the North spawn (at least for LTs) is the hedge row at D6/7. I've had some EPIC spotting games from that location. But both of our LTs went West and played kinda timidly around the NW side of the hill. Nothing for me to shoot in the G5 hill.

Problem 2: Our HTs were too aggressive

So our HTs pushed to E0, got themselves smashed a bit by invisible enemy snipers at G5 (see previous), but then pushed the E0 corner too aggressively. I was at C8, Our SkorpG was on the sniper spot at B8 and we had a T28 Proto in the low ground pass just below B8. All ready to support our HTs, but because they had pushed so far forward, and refused to fall back...we just sat there with our guns silent while their HTs and supporting TDs killed all our HTs.

By the time their HTs pushed to a spot where we had shots, we were now 3 v 6 and couldn't hold them off.

To make matters worse since our LTs hadn't spotted the Hill very well, the enemy Skoda T50 and Pantera now owned the entire hill and were now spotting/sniping us from the C5 area.

The lessons

If you've taken your HT to E0 (or any corner, really) be aware of what's behind you. If you have several big guns in positions to shoot there is value in playing back a bit and trying to lure the enemy to push around the corner where your big TDs can hurt them.

If you're a spotting tank on Redshire and you have shooter sat C5 or C8...try to make sure that somebody has vision on G5. If not...enemy snipers will tear up your HTs trying to cross.

The outcome

Unsurprisingly it was a 7-15 loss, but really wasn't that close.

GLHF!
