Autoloader: Welcome 2022

Glad to have a new year upon us. Here are some thoughts on World of Tanks as we roll into 2022.

Need a win? Play a light.

A recent player poll on Facebook suggested that light tanks are the class that are, generally, the most impactful on the battle in terms of winning or losing.

I think that's probably true, *IF* you're good in light tanks. It's not that HTs, MTs, or TDs can't carry. But if you think about the battles you've won (or lost) think about how big a role that vision played in that outcome.

Take Prokhorovka for example...it's almost impossible to win on that map if the other team has better vision than you. Likewise Malinovka, Murovanka, and a few others.

Now if you're not good in lights, you should play whatever class you're good in...but if you're a decently good light tank player, consider playing light tanks the next time you have a "Win 5 battles" mission.

Crew skills for clickers

I don't play clickers that much - I think it's my least-played class - but I did grind up thru the lines because I'm a collector. Obviously, the class is different from the other 4 classes in the game in a few notable ways, the playstyle is as well, and that means the crew skills should be.

On my SPGs I prioritize Concealment on all the crew. The reality with an SPG is that once you're spotted, you're probably dead. You might get lucky and evade, but most of the time you're going to get killed. That's why I don't tend to care so much about Repairs, SnapShot, or Firefighting.

Likewise, SPGs tend to have really bad view range anyhow, and if we're at the point where I have to outspot somebody in my arty then the battle is almost certainly lost. So I'm not as interested in Situational Awareness or Recon. (I will get those skills, eventually, but probably not until the 3rd skill at the earliest, 4th skill more often).

Commander

For the commander I'll start them with Concealment, but once it gets to 100% I'll reset it to Sixth Sense and start Concealment again. Once Concealment gets to 100% again, I'll reset again to Sixth Sense, Brothers-in-Arms, and then restart Concealment.

After that I'll add Recon, Repairs, and others as appropriate.

Driver

Since most SPGs have to rotate their hulls to change targets I tend to prioritize Clutch Braking along with Concealment. And Off-Road Driving for a little maneuverability.

Loader

*IF* you switch ammo types in your SPG often then Intuition makes sense for you. I almost never do, so for me it's Concealment first.

GLHF!
