Had a World of Tanks battle this morning where I got reminded of this one...
If you're in a situation with unbalanced numbers how you position your tank matters a bit more than in a 1 v 1.
2 v 1
If you're in a 2 v 1 you probably want your teammate to help you. In order to do that you need to make it possible for him to help you and there are a couple of things you should do.
1. Get out of the way
This morning my teammate in the 60TP was in a close quarters brawl with a 705 and calling for help. The problem is that when he approached the 705 he chose to drive BETWEEN the 705 and me (and the rest of his team). And he stayed there! As a result we had no shots on the 705.
60TP eventually killed the 705 but not before he ended up being knocked down to a 1-shot himself. Calling for help is fine, but make sure you've given your team a chance to help you.
What he should have done is drive up on the 705's OTHER side. Then he could have fought him from there and we could have supported with shots. The 705 would have been in a crossfire.
Speaking of crossfires...
2. Look to create crossfires
A crossfire is where two (or more) tanks are on opposite sides of the enemy tank. So he's eating shots from multiple angles. That helps in a couple of ways:
1. He can't get shots on both of you from the same angle. He's basically got to pick one of you and hope.
2. It's much harder for him to angle his armor. He's probably showing his butt or the back of his turret to one of you.
1 v 2
In a 1 v 2 you basically want to do the opposite of those things.
Try not to drive between two enemy tanks. If possible go to the outside so that the closer enemy tank is between you and the further one. That gives you three advantages:
1. You can face both of them at the same time and just choose your best shot on each load.
2. You can angle your armor more effectively since you only have one angle to worry about.
3. The closer enemy his hopefully blocking some shots from the further enemy.
BONUS: If you kill the closer enemy tank you may be able to use his corpse as cover.
GLHF!
