8th Anniversary Weekend for World of Tanks

It's the 8th Anniversary for World of Tanks and that means some special bonuses are in store.

Not only is it a x5 weekend, but also there are some special missions that will drop consumables, boosters, and other goodies if you just play fairly well. You can find more information about that here: https://worldoftanks.com/en/news/announcements/wot-anniversary-weekend-0419/

Important: You have to activate those missions by entering the code "ILOVEWORLDOFTANKS". If you're not sure how/where to do that, go to that page and check it out.

Fun and games

Been playing mediums a bit more than usual the last day or three. Oddly I've discovered that the battles where I played well, my team lost. And the battles where I didn't play that well, my team won. Go figure.

The T-44

Got ammo racked FOUR times (the last one fatally) in my T-44 (tier 8 USSR MT) on Minsk. Ouch.  Next battle in the T-44 was bottom tier on Live Oaks and I spent the whole game chasing damage. My team rolled so fast that it was hard for me to find a live red tank to shoot. We won 15-3.

I really like the T-44 overall. Mobility is good, gun is good, turret armor is decent. I really haven't minded grinding it to the Object 430 and the (soon to come) T-54.

The DerpJumbo (M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo)

I'm pretty close to marking the DerpJumbo (tier 6 US MT). The derp gun isn't ideal for marks, but it's a lot more fun.

Tip: If you're going to run the derp gun stick with the stock turret. It's got lousy view range, but it's got god-like armor at tier 6. And if you're running the derp gun (which is the same 105mm that the M4 Sherman at tier 5 uses) you're probably not sniping from long range anyhow. I've had people tell me to run the 76mm with the upgraded turret, and that is probably the smarter play for stats...but it's a lot less fun. And if you're going to run the weaker turret and the snipier gun...you might as well just play the Easy 8 instead, and get the mobility too.

If you want to get better at the game, spend a little time watching Skill4LTU. He's Lithuanian but he streams in English and you can learn a LOT about how to play the game from him. He also has an active, and helpful, chat group.
