Snap Shot - The Black Market in WoT

Wargaming has a new thing going on right now in World of Tanks called "The Black Market". The premise is that their "tank warehouse" got broken into and shady characters stole a bunch of tanks - some of them rare - to sell.

Every 12 hours (5A/5P for those of us in the USA Pacific Time Zone) they're going to release a limited number of these tanks to buy. The trick is - you can buy them for credits instead of cash or gold.

The first tank available was the M 41 90 GF ("BlackDog"). The tier 8 German Bulldog with the nasty gun. It was in the Black Market for 5 million credits - which made it quite a good deal, in my opinion. It's one of the better light tanks in the game, especially if you like a combat scout.

The second tank released this morning and it's the FCM36PAK40 - the tier 3 French TD with an impressive boomstick - for 3.5M credits. I've decided to pass on the PAK40 because I just don't see myself playing much tier 3. At 5PM tonight another tank will appear.

Two important things to know:

  1. They release a limited quantity of these tanks and when they're sold out...the deal is gone. They released a couple of thousand of the PAK40 this morning, as I write this there are 1701 left and they're going steadily (if not fast). In a couple of hours I expect they'll probably be sold out.
  2. You get to "The Black Market" in the game client by clicking "STORE" and then selecting the new (temporary, I'm sure) Black Market icon at the top of the left nav.
Buying premium tanks for credits is nice, especially at (so far) relative bargains. I happen to already own most of the premium tanks I want, so not sure if anything will appear in this event that I care about. But I'll keep checking.

Which Tank is Next?

They don't announce which tanks are coming, but if you're on NA you can watch social media, especially Reddit, and you can see which tank was released in EU. So far the NA tanks have matched the EU tanks. Thanks to the time zones this will give you an early heads-up on what's coming at the next release.

Other things?

In the video announcing this event (you can view it in game, or at the link below) Wargaming hinted at some other things such as a 4th Mark of Excellence. So far I haven't seen any evidence of that but I'll post about it if I do.

They also say there are "surprise bonuses" that will surface in game. I haven't seen one yet, but I'll keep my eyes open and let you know.
