Tank Review: The PZ Sfl IVc "Souffle"

Today's tank review is the tier 5 German TD, the PZ Sfl IVc "Souffle" (AKA "The Death Toaster")

To preface this review I'm running my #3 German TD crew in this tank (so they're not very good yet), and I'm running binocs, camo net, and rammer. It's an open top tank so no vents available and it's a casement TD so no Vstabs available.

Firepower

The top gun is the real party piece of this tank. The top gun is going to get you 240 alpha and 194 pen AT TIER 5?!?!  Combine that with .32 accuracy and it might have the best gun at the tier.

That's a good thing because as we'll see in a moment the rest of the tank has some challenges.

Where the gun struggles is it's limits. Only -5 degrees of gun depression and, even worse the gun traverse is is only 5 degrees left and right, meaning you have to traverse the hull pretty often. That's a problem since this tank is the very definition of a glass cannon - not only does it have no meaningful armor, but it's HUGE (I could barely fit it in the picture) and it only has 350 hit points which means you're a 2 shot to most things, and a 3 shot to the rest.

So staying unspotted is crucial to survival and when you traverse the hull you're moving, and your camo net drops. Meaning you have, at best, 20% camo.

Mobility

We'll get the rest of the good news out of the way now - the mobility is quite good. Power to weight is a not-terrible 15.18, and top speed is a very good 60. I've never felt like I couldn't get around the battlefield in this thing.

Survivability

As the Germans say Fuhgeddaboudit. Less armor than a wheelie tank, it's the proverbial broad side of a barn in size, and it only has 350 hit points. Most things can 2 shot you, some things can 1 shot you. Even the T67 is more survivable (better frontal armor, more hit points, much smaller).

It would be a miracle if you bounce any incoming shots.

You really do have to play this thing in a bush, at a distance. And relocate fast if you get lit.

Spotting and Camo

The camo is kinda meh. With my mediocre crew AND a camo net it gets to almost 39% when stationary. 15.7% on the move. Like it's distant cousin, the SkorpG  the camo vanishes when you fire. Less than 10% stationary and less than 4% if you desperately fire on the move.

View range isn't that good either. Granted my crew isn't helping, but even with binocs I only get to 425m.

Summary

Glass cannon with a fun gun and good mobility. The alpha is very sweet. The accuracy is quite good. But don't get spotted or you're going back to the garage pretty quick.

Am I going to keep it? No, but I might consider buying it back some day just for the gun.
