More thoughts on Frontline in World of Tanks

O.K., so it's Season 4 of Frontline and after one day of battles I have some more thoughts...

It's Toxic as Heck

Maybe it's because you're stuck in a battle with the same people for 15-25 minutes (and there are twice as many of them) but the chat in Frontline seems even more toxic than randoms. Every single battle there's at least one person who seems to spend half the battle screaming obscenities at the rest of his team.
I'll admit that I've gotten a bit salty in the past, but I hope I never sank to the level of some of the people I'm seeing in Frontline this week.

And no...you can't turn off chat in Frontline mode.

Deep breath, folks, it's just a game. (Yes, I'm reminding myself too)

Watch the Reserve Tanks

Above your tank panel on the bottom left you can see how many tanks you have in reserve, and how long until you get your next tank.

You start off with 1 tank in reserve, and it's 5 minutes until you get your second one. If you die and have no tanks in reserve, that's when you sit in the "respawn box" and wait...wait...wait to get your next tank.

So here's my tip - if you're on your last tank, sit back, don't push, snipe, get into a wolfpack, play a bit more carefully...until your next tank arrives in the reserve. The timer there will tell you how long that is. Once you've got a reserve tank you can play more aggressively knowing that you have another tank ready to go if you die.

Yes, it sucks to have to sit back a bit and snipe. Yeah, you might do less damage. But you'll do more damage and get more XP than you'll get if you're sitting in the respawn box cursing and waiting.

Not Much of a Nerf

Supposedly they nerfed the attackers by reducing the effectiveness of Engineering in the caps, and by making the side armor of the objectives tougher. Today I played 5 battles of Frontline (3 defense, 2 attack) and the attackers won all 5. I've watched a few streamer games and I haven't seen a single defense win yet. I'm sure defense does win sometimes...but right now it seems like attack is winning overwhelmingly.

As you probably know, I don't really care about winning or losing in Frontline, but when you lose badly it can be hard to rank up because you spend too much of the game running or getting killed as your team gets rolled. Plus you get the most rank points when you cap or block cap...and if you're the only one trying to block cap you just get dead AND don't rank up.

Then you have to watch the reserve tanks (see above) and if you don't have any reserves you can't be that aggressive around the cap...it's a vicious cycle. It's possible to do well with a bad team...but it's a lot harder.

Hey, Here's a Streamer

Looking for another streamer to watch? Check out SteelGutsinTN. He's a new streamer, chill attitude, plays pretty well, often gets to platoon with some very good players. He does a nice job of explaining his thought process.

He uploads stuff to YouTube too, here's his YouTube channel.

GLHF!
