One of the features that Wargaming recently added to World of Tanks is the Blueprints feature where you get random rewards that include blueprint fragments. The blueprints were kinda confusing at first, and there's still very little clarity on when you get them or which ones you get. Supposedly if you play better you have a higher chance to get blueprints after that battle, but I haven't seen any evidence of that. Just go with "random" and you'll be happier.
GLHF!
So what are the blueprints?
Blueprints are comprised of multiple fragments (usually 8) and come in three basic flavors:
- Tank specific: This is when you get a blueprint fragment for a specific tank, like the T-54 or Pantera. In some ways these are the most valuable because it's a full fragment and immediately gives you a discount on the XP of that tank. The downside is that they're only valuable if they're for tanks you actually want. If you get a blueprint fragment for the tier 3 French TD and you have no interest in that tank...it's worthless.
- National: This is a fragment that is aligned to a nation (USA, USSR, Italy, etc.). You use these in combination with the Universal fragments to build a full fragment for the tank you want.
- Universal: These are fragments that can used for any tank in any nation. Which brings me to...
What do you mean "build a full fragment?"
Depending on the tier of the tank you want, you can combine a number of universal fragments and a number of national fragments (for the nation of your tank) and you can create a fragment for the tank you want. For example: For the tier 9 Russian LT the T-54 Lightweight you need 9 universal fragments and 4 USSR national fragments. You can combine those to make a single fragment for the T-54 Lightweight.

Why would I want to do this?
The fragments give you a discount on how much XP you need to grind to unlock the tank. For example the T-54 Lightweight usually takes [x]K XP to unlock it. If you get a fragment for it though (either a Tank specific fragment, or by combining the National and Universal fragments) it reduces the amount of XP needed by [Y]%.
So the tank is cheaper?!
Well....not cheaper, exactly. Once you unlock the tank it costs the same amount of credits. The blueprints only reduce the amount of XP you need to grind to unlock it.
Here I have a blueprint fragment for the Bishop (which I'm really not interested in, unfortunately) and it's giving me a 15% discount on the XP needed to research it.

If I get all eight fragments is the tank unlocked?
If you've unlocked the other tanks on the tree leading up to it, yes. If not, you'll need to unlock the tanks that lead up to it.
Tip:
If the random blueprint generator selects a tank you already have unlocked you'll get a universal or a national blueprint instead, so it's valuable to research as many tanks as you can, even if you don't actually buy them.

Sell that old junk!
Let's say you've been playing for a while and you've made it up the tech tree a few levels. Along the way you've researched and bought various guns, turrets, tracks, shells, and other equipment. When you finish a tank and move up to the next tank you may sell that previous tank...but did you sell all its equipment and consumables too?
In the garage click Depot and you should see a screen that lists the modules, equipment, and shells that you no longer own the tanks for. With a few clicks you can sell those back to the game and reap the silver credits. How much can you make? Depends on how much you have, but if you've never sold stuff and you've been playing for a while it's entirely possible that you have millions of credits worth of gear to sell.
Guess what else you can sell? Consumables you never use. While you play this game various missions reward you with various consumables. You've probably stopped paying attention, but you might have 453 manual fire extinguishers in your depot that you've just "won" over the years.

Click on it and choose "Sell" and you'll get almost 680,000 credits. You can repeat for any other consumables you never use but have somehow accumulated.
Know what else you can sell? Some of the emblems. Like consumables various missions in the game aware you "emblems" that you can stick on your tank. Maybe you love the emblems, personally I rarely give a toss about them. If you go to the garage, pick a tank (any tank) and click "Exterior" > "Custom Style" > "Emblems" you'll see all the emblems. There's an "In Depot" filter on the left that makes it a little easier. Not all of them can be sold, but if you right-click one that can, the sell option on the context menu will be active. Another easy way to add some credits.
O.K., Tankers. I need to get back to my Type 64 Tank Review.
