Today I'm doing a quick review of the VK 30.02 (M), the tier 6 German medium in World of Tanks.
I'm grinding through the 30.02 M because of the E 50 M OnTrack right now and so far it's ...well, ok. I should say up front that I have my #3 German MT crew in this one, so it's not a very highly skilled crew currently. I assume that accounts for my underwhelming experience because statistically speaking this should be one of the best Tier VI mediums in WoT.
The mobility is ok, though not quite as good as it's brother the VK 30.01 D. And it's a bit deceptive because you actually have sort of poor terrain resistance compared to other tier 6 tanks. So it FEELS more sluggish than it is, sometimes.
Fortunately the reload is pretty decent at just under 4 seconds. The DPM is on the lower end of the tier - not as good as the Cromwell, A-43, or the Easy 8, but better than the T-34-85.
The pen is a bit trollish too - I've bounced shots off Cromwells and even some light tanks.
On the plus side, 840 hit points puts it at the top of the tier 6 tech tree mediums I think.
Camo and view range are ok, but not great. Again a lot of this is down to the crew and I admittedly do not have a very good crew in this tank yet.

Firepower
The gun is basically the same as the VK 30.01 D which is to say it's pretty meh. It will troll you a lot, despite the advertised .35 accuracy, doesn't have amazing pen (150) and 135 alpha...well, it's kind of a plink plink gun. It's unusual that you're going to push around the corner to finish somebody off because they're a 1-shot to you...almost everybody seems to be a 7-shot to you.Fortunately the reload is pretty decent at just under 4 seconds. Survival
The armor is actually better than the VK 30.01 D (you trade a little mobility for a little armor) and at its tier it holds up ok. You will bounce some things; but anything higher tier, and even most of the better guns at the same tier, will pen you pretty often. Don't rely on the armor and brawling, unless you're top tier.On the plus side, 840 hit points puts it at the top of the tier 6 tech tree mediums I think.

Equipment Choices
The equipment choices on this tank are pretty straightforward.
You want the top of everything, except the radio which more than doubles the signal range, sure, but costs money and adds weight. Frankly I've never found the signal range to be a limiter in this tank.
Conclusion
It's an ok tank. Will I keep it after I'm done grinding to the Panther? I don't think so. Am I hating playing this tank? No, despite the low-alpha trollish gun, I find the VK 30.02M to be pretty comfortable to play. As you're top tier (or have a decent team) it's competitive. It struggles a bit against tier 8s, but so do most tier 6 mediums.
