Snap Shot: No room at the inn?

One problem that some players in World of Tanks run into is that the Barracks fills up. This is especially a problem if you have quite a few premium tanks, that came with 100% crews, and you're using those premium tanks as crew trainers for your tech tree crew (and you should be) so you've stashed that premium crew for the future.
The barracks is where crew members who aren't currently in tanks "live".

Why is this a problem? When you go to switch crew from one tank to another there have to be enough barracks slots for those crew members to go into - even temporarily. You can buy more barracks slots for gold or you could just dismiss some of those extra crew. And you probably should just dismiss any crew that are less than 100% trained. But there is another option for the rest...

"Just park it over there"

Thanks to events and other things most of us probably have a few extra garage slots.

I went through my barracks and figured out which nations I had the most spare crew members from (UK, China, and, oddly, Japan) then I went to the tech tree and I found very low tier (II/III) tanks that had large crews 4+) and re-bought those tanks. In most cases each tank was maybe 30K credits - which you can easily earn in a single battle. With that tank in the garage, I filled the crew slots with spare crew members from the barracks.

You don't have to bother retraining them, unless you plan to actually fight that tank. For me, those low-tier tanks are literally just empty seats for me to park spare crew members in. I'll never take those tanks out.

And, someday, if/when I need those crew members to go into a new tank that I do intend to fight, I just pull them out of the parked tank.

So this morning I spent maybe 200K credits, and I effectively gained about 25 "bunks" in the barracks.

There's a reasonable argument to be made that I should just dismiss a bunch of that crew. Why do I need a dozen extra UK crew members; few of whom have even completed one skill? That's a fair point, but I guess I just like to be prepared; and 100% crew members (especially if they have at least part of the first skill trained) can come in handy.

So go re-buy some of those cheap low tier tanks all they really are is cool seats for those extra crew.

BONUS: If you just don't even want to spend credits, Tier 1 tanks are free. Just grab the tier 1 for the nation you want and you should be able to stash at least 2 or 3 crew in there.
