Tank Review: St. Emil

What has the speed of an O-I, the armor of a SkorpG, and a stock gun that struggles to pen the few things it hits? That's right kids, it's the tier 7, German tech tree TD, the Sturer Emil.

Top speed is 25, and with a power to weight ratio of less than 8.5 you'd better be going downhill if you even want to get to 25 before the battle is half over.

Armor at the front of the Str Emil is 50 (30 on the sides and rear) and it's a flat box so you're not likely to bounce much. Can you angle? A little...but since your lateral gun arc is about 12 degrees TOTAL (not 12 left and 12 right, but about 6 left and right) any angling you do makes it less likely you can get your gun on the target.

The Str Emil does have great gun depression at 15, but it's so underpowered climbing any ridge to get a shot is going to be difficult. At least you can hide most of the box if you're just poking the gun over the ridge...small consolation there.

The one saving grace of this crapbox is the top gun, which has 490 alpha (easily the best alpha at its tier). But with a 13 second reload it still has mediocre DPM. Aim time and dispersion both look ok, but I find that on the battlefield the gun is fairly derpy and the 880m/s shell velocity isn't very good.

To be fair I don't have a great crew in mine, but still...the tank is pretty frustrating. It's too slow to flex around the battlefield, it doesn't have the armor to get in anybody's face. It's not laser accurate. Once you get spotted you're probably dead since you have no armor and don't have the mobility to run away.

So you have to guess at a good sniper position, hope enemies drive in front of your gun, and hope you can actually hit them. Not a great gaming experience.

GLHF!
