Snap Shot: Grinding the Conway

Quick post on grinding the Conway...this won't be a full tank review, but more of some hot takes based on the first 40 games or so in it. I'm grinding the Conway at the moment because the FV4005 is the OnTrack which means that it's 30% off to buy. So I figured now was as good a time as any to grind the line so I could buy the tanks on sale.

First off, I like this tank. Even the first gun is good. In fact the first gun has better stats than the second gun. All the second gun really has is big alpha, and it's lighter so theoretically your mobility improves a bit. The first gun has better DPM and accuracy.

For some reason though every game I have in the Conway is one of two scenarios:

1. I get about 3K damage and the game is competitive, if not a win.

2. I get to do exactly 2 shots of damage before I get overrun because my team has totally melted in route to a 4-15 loss in under 5 minutes.

It's almost uncanny how almost every game is one of those two. Rarely is there the 1500 damage game. It's almost always either 2 shots of damage...or a nice 3K damage game.

And understand that when you only get 2 shots of damage before getting gang-banged in a 4-15 loss you will lose credits even if you didn't fire a single round of gold.

Mobility on this tank isn't bad. Armor on this tank isn't much, though occasionally you'll get a trollish bounce. View range is fine, camo isn't very good. Even with a full camo crew and food you barely get 20% camo sitting still unless you have a net.

Just played a game after typing that sentence....3,228 combined and 4 kills in an 11-15 loss. And lost almost 7K credits despite not shooting a single round of gold.

I like the tank. It's hard to carry in if your team sucks though. No meaningful armor at its tier and the camo is bad. You have SOME mobility, but not enough to really get out of trouble when you get spotted. So if your team is trash when you get spotted you're going to get shot by 3 or 4 enemies at once and you may die fast.

Here's an interesting stat: My win rate in the Challenger is 58%. My win rate in the Charioteer is 64%. My win rate in the Conway (after 41 games) is 39%.

I like the Conway, but I like the Charioteer a bit better. It just feels more agile and tier for tier I think the gun is probably just as good.

Also...don't be aggressive in the Conway. :-)

UPDATE: And this evening after a series of good games I unlocked and bought the FV4005. Maybe tomorrow I'll take it out for a game.
