Garage Sale for Credits Part II: The 1.10 Bonanza

In my post "Need extra credits in World of Tanks? Have a garage sale!" I showed you how you could sell excess equipment, decals, and consumables to make some extra credits without even clicking Battle.

Well, with 1.10 they've made it rain!

<O To Steven Sisk who suggested this idea, by the way.

Equipment classes?

Here's why...pre 1.10 there were fewer classes of certain kinds of equipment and a BIG part of the 1.10 update was rebalancing those classes of equipment. If you have a lot of tanks in your garage (I have ~260) and you have a lot of equipment on them you'll probably find that some of that equipment is the wrong class now.

This is especially true if you still have a bunch of lower tier tanks. I keep some Tier IV/V tanks just because I like them. And I have some even lower tier tanks for stashing excess crew members. But if you look at the equipment slots on those now you may see little orange arrows, like these:

Those arrows indicate that this equipment is the wrong class for that tank. At the moment they still work, but with the next update they'll be automatically demounted from that tank and sent to the depot. I went through every tank in my garage, tier by tier, and most of my low-mid tier tanks had at least one piece of equipment like this.

For example: I ended up with 56 extra Coated Optics, and about two dozen extra binocs. Extra GLDs, V-Stabs, you name it. This equipment WILL work on the higher tier tanks, so I could add it to my Tier 8-10 tanks, but most of those tanks were already fully equipped, so I didn't need it.

Make it rain...

So what did I do? After going through my high-tier tanks and making sure they all had all the equipment they needed, I went to the Depot and I took stock. I decided to keep a small reserve of each piece of equipment, generally not more than 10, and sell all the excess.

And here's the party piece...they're EXPENSIVE.

That's right, most of them were 100,000 to 300,000 PER UNIT, and I had dozens.

When I started the process I had about 3.7M credits. When I finished...almost 24M. And I didn't have to click Battle once.

What's the catch?

Well, the catch is if I want to play those lower tier tanks the equipment came off of, I'll have to rebuy new equipment most likely (unless I have spares in the depot). BUT that equipment is much cheaper than the equivalent high class. For example: If I took a Class 1 GLD off a low tier tank, and can now replace it with a Class 3 GLD...

I sold the old one for 300,000 credits.
I buy the new one for...

Yep, 50,000 credits. I made a 250,000 credit profit in that exchange.

And let's be honest, I have 260+ tanks. I don't play a lot of them very often. Do I care if my Matilda doesn't have Coated Optics at the moment? Naw. I might not play it for weeks or months. I can buy that extra gear later, if I need to.

AND...I can wait until the next time equipment goes on sale. Maybe I only pay 25,000 credits for that Class 3 GLD for that tank I rarely play.

Go check your own garages. Good chance you're going to be hearing some cha-chings yourself!
