Most of this last week I've been playing premiums, so I can grind credits and train some of my down-tree crews.
The Lansen C - more of a C-minus
One of the premiums I've been playing a bit is the Lansen C - to train up my UDES 14.5 crew. Other than being really fragile (every time you get hit you lose an engine, or an ammo rack) and having horrible gun handling (the dispersion seems much worse than the .35 stated) it's ok.
Many of the problems may be because the crew I'm training is bad. Still working on their FIRST skill. But still...shell velocity isn't very good and unless the enemy is willing to sit still you're probably going to miss a LOT of shots.
The Lansen really struggles to carry, especially if it's not top tier. In fact, in a 5 game stretch today I never had a game closer than 6-15. Everything was a stomp loss and the Lansen couldn't do much about it. Even when I was able to manage 1500 damage and a kill or two, if my team was melting there was little I could do about it. It doesn't have the armor to brawl or the accuracy to snipe reliably.
Again, keep in mind that I don't have a good crew in it. But maybe that's the point - the Lansen is extremely crew dependent. But even a good crew isn't going to improve the shell velocity.
What's good about the Lansen is the mobility and the alpha - assuming you ever hit or pen anything.
Training those down-tree crews
One of the reasons I'm playing the Lansen (and other prems) so much right now is that since I've started collecting down-tree tanks, I've got a lot of noob crews to train. When I got the UDES 16 I moved my prime Swedish MT crew from the UDES 14/5 into it - which meant I needed to train up a brand new UDES 14/5 crew. So that's what's in my Lansen C right now.
Across the garage I've been carefully putting down-tree crews (most of them still working on their first skill) into premiums for training purposes. Generally speaking I try to get the crew well into their 2nd skill, then rotate them out of the premiums and move a new down-tree crew into the premium.
I've also been running a lot of crew training boosters and XP boosters with "Accelerate Crew Training" enabled.
Daily Deals
There's an event going on right now on NA and EU (at least) called "Daily Deals". Basically you click on 4 random cards as they fly by (and it's not quite as easy as it looks; you need to be handy with the left mouse button) and those cards reveal "deals" for either cash or gold. Mostly premium tanks or some kind of package of camo, gold, silver, boosters, etc.
None of the tanks I've seen so far have been rare - in fact I think they're all available in the premium store normally - but they've been "on sale". I'd been meaning to pick up an SU-122-44 anyhow and I got one 30% off (with some gold and credits, etc) in a package thru Daily Deals.
Mostly not that exciting, but it's free, easy, quick, and you might spot something you want.
On NA you can get to it here: https://dailydeals.worldoftanks.com/en.
Don't be that guy
In one of my battles this AM on Karelia, our E100 went north, and ended up getting killed. Later in the battle he posted in chat "Reporting 5 noobs".
First of all - there's nothing to report. There's no rule against being "a noob" so your report goes nowhere and just makes you look like an ass.
Second - Dude fired ONE shot (which missed) from his top tier super-heavy and he did exactly 6 damage (He must have fired HE which splashed). He finished dead last on the team. He did manage 288 spotting, though.
Third - It was a 15-3 win.
No wonder he's a 46% player (after 30K+ battles).
GLHF!
