A few random thoughts on World of Tanks!
The Well-Deserved Rewards are here!
As expected, this morning I got three new tanks (so did lots of folks):
- M24E2 Super Chaffee - a Tier VI version of the Chaffee (USA LT). Like the tier 5 the gun isn't very special; especially for a Tier 6 tank, and it has a slower top speed. It also has slightly worse armor, though that doesn't matter much on an LT generally. View range is slightly better, camo is slightly worse.
- T-50-2 - Tier VI Russian LT. It's been in the game for a while, but I hadn't been in the game long enough to get one until now. Fast, and has a fast firing gun.
- Super Hellcat - Tier VII American TD. Like it's little brother, the Tier 6 Hellcat, it's fast and has good camo and view range. Standard pen is pretty poor (167mm) and so is the shell velocity, but if you do pen the DPM is ok. Ground resistance is poor so make sure your driver has Off-Road Driving.
! Worth noting - these are reward tanks, not premium tanks, so while you CAN move tech tree crews into them without penalty, and they do get extra free XP and crew training, they do NOT earn extra credits like a premium tank.
The tanks are fine, not amazing. But they're free, so hey...no complaints, no regrets.
You can sign into the game client any time during the next year to claim your rewards; if your account is at least 4 years old (by the year, not the date; so any time in 2016 counts as 4 years old, any time in 2017 is 3 years old, any time in 2015 is 5 years old, etc) you'll get the free tanks.

Crew Skills
One of the best reasons to have premium tanks (including the reward tanks above) is to train your tech tree crews. I pretty much exclusively run tech tree crews in my premiums, specifically to get that crew training boost.
When you get a new crew skill unlocked, though, it's important to move that crewmember BACK into the tech tree tank before you select the next skill. It's not that unusual for the skills on the tech tree tanks to NOT be the same as the companion premium tanks.
You see this most often with tanks that don't have Radio Operators - can't tell you how many times I've added "Situational Awareness" to my Commander/Radio Operator on the Premium tank, only to discover that on the tech tree tank the Radio Operator role is held by the Loader, instead.
Prime Gaming Loot
If you use Twitch you've probably seen that about every month a new loot kit arrives for Amazon Prime members. Lot of people call it "Twitch Rewards" or "Twitch Prime Drops" but it's the same thing. You can link your Prime account to your WOT account and claim the loot kit; which is usually a nice commander, some camo, maybe a rental tank, some missions, etc.
From the looks of it we may not be getting another one until January at the earliest, though. I say that because the Wargaming site says you can grab the current "Queen Maeve" kit until January 5th. Generally they don't run concurrently, which suggests that we won't see another Prime Gaming loot kit until January 6th at the earliest.

GLHF!
