Let me start by saying this is an anecdotal observation - I don't have any hard data to back this up.
But...
I wonder if part of the reason why it seems like more battles are lopsided stomps these days is that it seems like there are more inexperienced players playing high tiers?
Whether it's people with 2,000 battles stumbling around in tier 8 premium tanks, or people with 6,000 battles already at Tier IX/X on the tech tree it feels like there are a lot of noob players who are learning the game at Tiers 8-10 these days.
I just had a battle where this was on the endplates:
- Tier X is probably not the best tier to learn the game at. I'd recommend playing tier 6 until you're pretty comfortable, then playing tier 8 for a while to learn more details and nuance. I don't think I even GOT my first Tier X until I had 15,000 battles and even now I play tier X pretty sparingly.
- Having two of our top tier tanks be inexperienced players who put up zero damage is a big part of the reason we lost.
And to be fair, that loss was a pretty close loss. I think we lost 12-15. How much difference would it have made if we'd had experienced players in those top tier tanks? Maybe none, but I have to think we'd have had a much better shot of winning.
Is it the plethora of premium tanks and the frequent sales? Is it the blueprints and On track events and x5 bonuses that are helping noob players climb the tech tree almost effortlessly? Maybe both?
Anyhow - maybe it's always been like this and I didn't notice. Just saying that more and more often these days when I glance at the "Battles played" count for players in Tier 8 and above...they very often have < 10,000 battles played, and that suggests that maybe they're climbing the tree too fast. And maybe that lack of experience is why the battles get so lopsided, so quickly.
GLHF!
