Had a 13 57 on my team on Ruinberg the other day YOLO into a forward position and get killed about 1 minute into the battle. Unfortunately, he had nearly no support. Only one medium went forward with him, everybody else hung back on the A line or went city.
I started to go field with him, but I saw on the minimap the way the team was deploying and I fell back (not without eating a shot or two myself, of course).
So what?
That happens a lot, so what makes this instance notable? He spent the next few minutes in chat complaining that he didn't get any support - and he was right. But when somebody pointed out that he should have seen the unfortunate way our team was deploying and adjusted his plan he got very indignant.
"I'm not going to change what I do based on what other people do!"
Except you should. Especially in the early game when there are 15 enemies still on the map...otherwise you just end up throwing yourself into a 1 v 5, getting killed, and spending the rest of the battle crying about it in chat.
I had to learn too
There was a time when I did the same thing. When the countdown hit 0, I held down W and raced as fast as I could to the position I knew (from watching streamers, mostly) was the most brilliant position in the game. And half the time I'd arrive there and discover I was totally alone...and facing multiple enemies. As often as not I was back in the garage shortly, frustrated.
I've learned since then that when the countdown hits zero you can press W, but you'd better be watching where your team goes, and if they're not going where you need them to be, you should adjust your plan. Even if you don't want to.
Otherwise, you'll end up like that 13 57. Quickly dead, crying in the corner.
GLHF!
