A few random thoughts today...
Char Mle 75 is one of the hardest tanks in the game to play
The challenge with it is that, sort of like the HWK 30, except worse, people think it's a light tank. It's really not. It's more like a Bourrasque with a difficult gun.
I had a battle on Lakeville this morning and unfortunately I was the only "LT" on my team. Tried to take it to a typical light tank bush, got spotted and deleted before I could even finish loading my first clip. LOL
You really have to play it as an opportunistic soft medium and swoopy assassin. Be patient in the early game, play a bush or two further back than you think you should, then in the mid/late game your vision becomes more usable and you can swoop into clip out isolated/wounded enemies.
At least that's my theory. But clearly I still suck in the Mle so maybe I'm wrong.
Japanese Heavy tanks suck
If you follow me on Twitter (https://twitter.com/wotguy) you know that I'm grinding field mods on the Japanese heavy tanks this month during the On Track. As of the moment I've finished the O-I and the Oh-No (O-Ho). I have about 9K more XP to finish the Oh-Shit (Oh-Ni), and I still have a ways to go on the Type 4 Heavy. Not sure if I'll get to the Type 5 Heavy.
In short they just don't fit my playstyle. They're very slow, and very big, so easy targets for arty and TDs. The guns are ok, though after the HE nerf they're just not special, and the reload times are ETERNAL. It's like playing an arty. As a result the DPM is pretty poor. Yes you may do 600 damage in a shot, but then you're waiting 15-20 or more seconds for your next shot. And Gregg-forbid you miss or bounce your shot...now you're 30-40 seconds without doing any damage at all.
If your team is bad and you get rushed, that long reload means you're lucky to get more than 1 shot of damage in before the wolves who overran you send you back to the garage.
The armor is really the best thing about the Japanese heavies, but I've discovered that pretty quickly folks just press 2 and shoot you in the face without a care. So you can't depend on that armor for very long, especially if you're not top tier. There are few more hopeless feelings than loading into a Tier 9 battle in an O-Ni.
Milla's giving out barracks bunks!
Don't forget to claim the free Tier II, III, and IV tanks that Milla gives out for completing missions in the Holiday Ops.
Even if you don't care about playing low tiers (and I don't) they can be great for freeing up bunks in your barracks. I just went to check to see which nations had the most idle crew members in my barracks, then picked up the free low tier tanks from those nations (Be sure to get them with no crew!). With the tank safely in my garage I filled the crew slots with crew members I wanted to stash.
Voila - I instantly gained about a dozen more empty bunks in my barracks, for free.
GLHF!
